Storm’s Harmony
One of the more ornamental engrams, it was designed by Áren flamescribe Ashjërunei Riemend as a gift for Reinlutre during the Welatorhith Kindling Ceremony of 1008 AL. The engram’s function is to conjure a rainharp by catching rain from around the lighter, freezing the strings into glass-like ice. The rainharp can then be played like any other of its kind, and it produces a deep aquatic tone unique to the instrument, but this is not the engram’s main feature.
Upon the direction of the lighter, rain can be slowed and captured into an acoustic array of floating water orbs glowing with Soulfire, producing sound by vibrating the heavy minerals in the rain. The orbs can also be united into concentric rings of softly illuminating singing water, a tool only useful in the hands of an expert.
The engram takes inspiration from other rainharp engrams–which were a common gift to musician spouses–but employs complicated techniques and almost seems to contain engrams within engrams as a customary display of skill for the [[Traditions#Bond Festival|Kindling Ceremony]].
The engram’s true beauty, however, lies in the efficiency of the Flamescript. To accomplish its effects with traditional scribing techniques would require a prohibitive amount of gimynfire only handleable by a highkeeper, but the engram is accessible with as little as a palestone. This enables a performance to last as long as the musician can think of music, appealing directly to extended soloists and symphonies, something previously unheard of for orchestras incorporating instruments operating with firekeeping.
